Holiday Gifts for Fido

Have you decided what to get your dog this year? It isn’t hard to get that furry tail wagging! Fido can be overjoyed by some of life’s simplest pleasures, like treats and belly rubs. That said, there are some really great options for things you can get your canine buddy this year. Read on as a local Frisco, TX vet suggests some great holiday gifts for dogs.

Doghouse

Does Fido have a yard to patrol? Although we strongly believe that dogs should live inside, your pup may very well enjoy having a doghouse of his own to hang out in when he is outdoors.

Toys

Fido is very intelligent, and can get quite bored with nothing to do. Keep your canine friend’s toy box full. When you go shopping, keep your pup’s age, health, and personality in mind. Puppies, for instance, may need chew toys, while playful adult dogs may benefit from fun puzzle toys. Ask your vet for specific recommendations.

Obedience Training

Does your pup ignore you when you call him? Does Fido haul you down the sidewalk every time he sees a squirrel or a cat? If so, your pooch may need to go back to school! Many dogs actually enjoy learning. Doggy obedience training can also benefit you, by reducing behavioral issues and just making your life a bit easier. Talk about a win-win!

Veterinary Care

One of the best things you can do for your loyal pet is to make sure he sees the vet regularly. Microchipping, parasite control, vaccinations, exams, and spay/neuter surgery are all very important to Fido’s health, safety, and well-being. Ask your vet to recommend an appointment schedule.

Beds

Sleeping dogs are absolutely adorable! Make sure your four-legged buddy has a nice, comfy bed to doze off in.

Elevated Dishes

Did you know that many of our canine pals are much more comfortable eating from elevated dishes than from bowls on the floor? Consider getting Fido some new dinnerware.

Pet Ramps

Do you have a senior dog or a small pooch? If so, your pet may have difficulty getting in and out of the car, or climbing onto the sofa for a nap. Pet ramps or stairs can help your furry friend get around more easily.
