Did you know that February 17th is World Cat Day? If you were to ask Fluffy, she’d probably insist that every day is World Cat Day, but we checked. Kitties make wonderful pets, and they definitely deserve to be pampered a bit. Below, a Plano, TX vet lists some great ways to activate the purr on this special holiday.
Window Seat
Cats love spying on local wildlife! Give Fluffy a comfy window seat, where she can sunbathe, watch birds and squirrels, and daydream about being a ferocious hunter.
Kitty Garden
We strongly recommend that cats stay inside: Fluffy will be both safer and healthier as an indoor pet. If you want to give your furball a taste of the outdoors, set out some kitty-safe plants for her in a bright corner or sunroom. You can find a full list of both safe and unsafe plants at the ASPCA website.
New Beds
If there’s one thing cats like, it’s naps. A new bed is a great way to activate the purr!
Cat Furniture
Fluffy doesn’t mind getting comfortable on our things, but why not get her some furniture of her own? Cat towers are great, because they are multi-purrpose: your kitty will gain a jungle gym, napping spot, and scratching post, all in one!
Furball TV
Did you know that they make DVDs just for kitties? Many cats really enjoy watching shows about birds, fish, or other small animals!
Toys
Toys aren’t just fun for Fluffy: they help keep her in shape and offer her beneficial mental stimulation. You can give your feline pal classic kitty playthings, like catnip mice or feather toys. Or, try something new, like a robotic mouse, catnip bubbles, or an automated laser pointer.
Treats
A special snack is another great way to brighten Fluffy’s day. Plain, canned tuna, chicken, or salmon in water is fine. (If you go with salmon, make sure there are no bones.) Cooked, unseasoned meat, fish, or poultry will also work.
Cuddles
We know, you probably don’t need a reason to snuggle up with your kitty. After all, Fluffy’s affectionate cuddles and purrs are two of her cutest qualities! All the same, spend some time with your furball on her special day.
